Princess Sparkles on NYE

A long time ago, for some odd reason or another that I cannot remember, I started shunning glittery clothes.

By no means does this mean I rock dark attire 24/7. I always opt for bright colors and vibrant patterns when I fancy them, however I always just say no to sparkles. I guess everyone has their clothing quirks....

I feel however that I need to chuck that thinking aside when it comes to New Year's Eve. Even if it is cheesy, it just feels right to disco ball up one's outfit and have a fabulous night.

If money was as plentiful as the twinkles on the items below then all of them would be mine for tomorrow night!

Friday Inspiration

Because I do not know about you, but this was actually the longest week on record. No make that the longest two weeks on record.

Can you imagine the places you would go (or the decadent naps you would take) in this "boat".

Fact: my obsession with Pinterest knows no bounds.

One of the things I love most about it is when an image is "pinned" by multiple users. This could be something that may annoy other users on the site, however for me it is usually a pretty good indicator that you should check it out.

When something is "pinned' over and over the image keeps popping up all day in your feed. This can happen over an amazing recipe, a DIY project, the must have pair of ballet flats or even whatever dress the latest (and greatest) Duchess Catherine is wearing.

See the image below as an example of this. I kept seeing this particular room over and over. At first glance I liked it, but it wasn't until I explored the picture more and more that I began to realize what an utterly amazing room it is.

It is eclectic, yet easy to relate to. It mixes color, patterns, price points and texture perfectly.

Bottom line: I need it to breathe (but will most likely settle for the living room I have).

Wanderlust

I come from a family that is so in love with food that we often talk about dinner as we wrap up lunch. Its a trait that I know drives my husband up the wall.

For some reason I tend to be doing that with our upcoming (much needed) Mexican vacation. To say I am excited about it would be a drastic understatement, I am counting the days till we get to go, however it has gotten me wondering where the next vacations will be...

South Africa is at the top of our list, we have already begun the very tentative planning to embark during the winter of 2012.


My sister swears that they only reason my husband and I want to go to India is because we adore Indian food, but I swear it is much more than that.


A trip to ANYWHERE is France is a must for me. I have been devouring everything and anything by Peter Mayle these days and have always fantasized about spending a long weekend in Paris (doesn't that just sound glamorous).



A trip back to Sicily to see, spend time with and (most importantly) eat with family is a must.


Greece, Prague, Amsterdam, Argentina, Morocco....yea would not be saying no to a ticket to any of those destinations as well :)

It is a gloomy day in the District with a wet weekend on the forecast and I needed to find something to inspire me to make the best out of rain.......

Downton Abbey Style

Thanks to the Emmys on Sunday night a whole slew of us were introduced to the utter wonderfulness that is the PBS mini-series Downton Abbey.

After watching it win award after award and my obsession with anything taking place during the earlier 20th century (and in England to boot!), I was THRILLED to see Netflix had it available streaming instantly. Thank you Netflix, you managed to do something right since your ridiculous division of streaming vs dvd.

I am two episodes in and utterly mesmerized by it all. The plot, the characters, the accents, the dying class system they live in and the fashion are all swoon worthy. The dresses that the women of the show wear, particularity those by the wife and daughter of the Lord, are amazing and the silhouettes are timeless.

I did my best to pull a few pictures of the ladies outfits, but kept getting nervous I would stumble upon a spoiler....
